So how did the famous Indiana Jones hat come to be? Well it's kind of an interesting story. Director Steven Spielberg was looking for a hat that had a classic style, yet was not rep representative of any particular time period. He ended up choosing a wide brimmed hat called "the poet" in a neutral shade of brown. Now known as the Indy Fur Fedora, this has been Indiana Jones' signature look even since it debuted in Raiders of the Lost Ark back in 1981. Several new Indiana Jones movies have been released over the years, and the iconic fedora has endured as a timeless symbol of the classic character made famous by actor Harrison Ford. New hat models have been created, adapted from the original, and released under the Indiana Jones name to give everyone an opportunity to get their very own official Indiana Jones hat.
