Resistol Hats was started in the 1920s by Harry Rolnick.  The company was started thanks to an investment by a millionaire names ER Byer.  Byer invested in Rolnick because he was a dedicated customer who was completely taken with Rolnick’s hat making skills and ideas. 

In 1927, Byer-Rolnick was up and running in Dallas, Texas.  The company was producing felt hats for men in both a western and dress style.  The hats were marketed under the name Resistol Hats.  The name meant weather resistant and suited the hats nicely. 

In the beginning distribution of the products was limited to Texas and Oklahoma, but soon the innovative designs helped expand sales on a national level.  The self-conforming band and kitten finish were two such innovations that helped launch this company into the mass market and prompted the move to larger facilities in Garland, Texas, the current home to the company.

As the company grew it was able to acquire a fur cutting plant which made the company the only company in the industry that had control over the entire hat making process.  This control allowed for the best quality standards control.  This led to the company’s reputation for providing consistent quality that was second to none.

Resistol Hats soon became a world leader.  This company was able to constantly provide a consistent quality level that other companies did not have the ability to do.  By having complete control the company was launched to world wide fame.

Even today, Resistol Hats is a well known company that has not seen demand decline.  It is still known as a small hat company, but in reality it is the largest manufacturer of hats in the world.  It is now part of Hatco, Inc, but all areas of production are still controlled by the company to ensure the quality for which the Resistol name is known.
